Wayne County authorities believe they have found the body of 16-year-old Kennedy McLaurin Jr. They say the remains were found in the Seven Springs area Saturday morning.
The remains will be sent to the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s office in Chapel Hill for analyses and positive identification.
Authorities say they have also arrested a fourth suspect in the murder of McLaurin, 17-year-old Curtis Etheredge. Etheredge turned himself in at the Goldsboro Police Department. He is charged with murder and has been placed in jail under no bond pending his first court appearance.
Goldsboro Police said late Friday night 3 men are in custody for the murder of a Goldsboro teen reported missing this month. They are also looking for a 4th suspect.
Goldsboro Police say Leonard Joyner turned himself in to a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy after seeing himself on television as being wanted for the murder of 16-year-old Kennedy McLaurin Junior. Joyner was taken to the Goldsboro Police Department and turned over to investigators.
19-year-old Jerome Butts was also arrested and charged with murder in the death of McLaurin. Both Joyner and Butts were placed in the Wayne County Jail under no bond pending a first appearance.
Authorities say 18-year-old Kevin Smith of Marlette Dr. Goldsboro was also arrested and charged with murder. He also has been placed in the Wayne County jail under no bond pending his first appearance.
Lawmen report they are looking for 17-year-old Curtis Etheridge of Biltmore Drive in Goldsboro, in connection with this case. They say a warrant for his arrest has been issued charging him with Murder.
